Composition & Essay Writing [ 103 ] Charity Begins At Home , What Is Religion ?

103 - ] Composition & Essay Writing

 Charity Begins at Home

Charity begins at home it is a true saying as someone that cannot love her/his family then how can that person love someone else. This proverb is a lesson for all of us and charity does and should begin at home. First, we need to learn to care and love our family wholeheartedly then we can shower love to the outside world. Also, it is a person’s first and foremost responsibility to serve her/his family first then others. In addition, fulfill duties towards your family than others.

It is largely believed that our family comes first and we should help them before helping others. But, there are people who debate that this is the misinterpretation of this proverb. According, to them, it means that children should be taught about charity at home. A child learns by seeing his elders, if the parents are loving and giving and pay importance to social cause them their children will also learn the same and make some efforts to improve the society. Besides, in some way, it does make sense. It also sends a strong message to the people with this phrase. Furthermore, the children follow the footstep of their parents and do what they do. Moreover, if they see their parents doing good deeds by helping the poor and needy then they will indulge them in doing the same. Also, they will pass this on to the next generation. But, on the contrary, if they see them misbehaving with poor and needy then they will also do the same. So, it is important to teach our children good things because it will build a better society.

How the two interpretation of charity begins at home are linked . The above-mentioned interpretation of the phrase may not be complete in itself. If in the above interpretation the parents completely ignore their children and devote themselves completely in helping others then will their children still like to help others? The answer will be no because they would think that these people are keeping them away from their parents. Also, they would rather hate them. So, we can say that both the interpretation of the phrase is true and linked with each other. We must indulge in the habit of charity only when it runs in the family. The children will also inculcate only when we remain sensitive towards the need of children and family members. After that, we can go out and help others. And this is the best way to lead a decent life. Also, we must learn to prioritize and the family should be on top of the list. Besides, ignoring the family and working for the benefit of society is bad for both our self and society.

In conclusion, ‘Charity begins at home’ sends a strong message in society. We should understand it’s important to lead a more satisfying life. Also, we must remember what we inculcate is what we teach our children. Besides, we must shower our children and family with an abundance of love and fulfill all their essential needs and after that, we can help the poor and needy around us.

Recycling is a method of procedure that includes the collection and breaking down of waste material to create something new out of it. The process was introduced sot that the non-biodegradable materials can be melted or break down to create something useful. After the effects of global warming and pollution have become known to men the process of recycling has become more important.

We need recycling for many reasons. But most importantly, it will help us to save our planet. Besides, recycling saves the earth by facilitating the reprocess of paper which will save millions of trees. Also, recycling saves a lot of energy because many things that we recycle can easily be converted into virgin materials. In addition, it saves a lot of resources too.

Moreover, recycling reduces the burden of the environment. As we save energy the number of greenhouse gases and oxides are produced in less quantity. Because most of the toxic gases are produced by factories. In addition, recycling reduces the amount of waste, that takes years to decompose. Also, the recycled material can be sold. We use this recycled material for the manufacturing of many new products. So, ultimately recycling saves money.

The various materials that we recycle have to go through a process that refines and purifies them. Besides, different materials go through a different process and in this topic we will discuss the recycling process of various materials.1-]  Paper- It is the most used material on the earth. Paper is made up of two materials water and wood. For recycling paper firstly they break it down in small pieces and dissolve it into water. After that, they add chemicals that filter out the ink and dirt from it. In addition after filtering the paper takes the form of a mush called the pulp and this pulp is later converted into clean paper. 2 - ] Metals- The metals are first shredded into small pieces and then they were melted and after that remolded into new shapes. 3 - ]Glass- The recycling of glass is the easier they just break it into pieces and then they melt it and recast them. 4 - ] Plastic- They also follow the same process as plastic. But, the process of plastic recycling is a little bit complex because they have to sort out the different types of plastics. As there is a diverse variety of plastic with different properties. Almost everything that we use can be recycled whether it is household materials like paper, plastic, metal, glass, furniture, toys, artifacts, vehicles, etc. Besides, opt for things from the market that can easily be recycled. Also, try to use merchandise that is made up of recycled products. In addition, sort your waste and dump your recyclable waste in the recycle bin so that the authorities can recycle it.

To Sum it up, recycling is a small step by humans to save the environment. But this small step is very effective in the long run. Also, before throwing away the waste we should check it to see if there is a recyclable product in it or not.

Water Scarcity

Water is the basic necessity of every human being. But, water scarcity is a major issue that is rising very rapidly in modern-day countries . The problem has become so severe that in many countries the groundwater has almost dried up and people have to depend on water supply from other sources. In addition, water is one of the most misused commodities that we still waste. It is the central point of our lives but not the central point of our focus. In a broad way, the problem of water scarcity can be categorized into four areas- health, education, hunger, and poverty.

In the past, people understand the value of water and plan their lives around it. Moreover, many civilizations bloom and lost on account of water. But, today we have knowledge but we still fail to understand the value of water. Water scarcity is the cause of mismanagement and excess population growth of the water resources. Also, it is a man-made issue that continues to rise. Besides, some of the reasons for water scarcity are: 1- ] Wasteful use of water for agriculture. Some developing countries are some of the major food growers in the world. That produces tons of quantity of food to feed their population and export the surplus that is left. In addition, producing this much food requires a lot of water too. The traditional method of irrigation wastes a lot of water due to evaporation, water conveyance, drainage, percolation, and the overuse of groundwater. Besides, most of the areas in many countries use traditional irrigation techniques that stress the availability of water. But, the solution to this problem lies in the extensive irrigation techniques such as micro-irrigation in which we provide water to plants and crops using a sprinkler or drip irrigation.

2 - ]  Reduction in water recharge systems. Due to rapid construction that uses concrete and marbles do not let the rainwater to get absorbed in the soil. But, if we install some mechanism in our houses that can hold the rainwater then we can recharge the groundwater.

3 - ] Lack of water management and distribution. There is a need for an efficient system that can manage and distribute the water in urban areas. Also, the government needs to enhance its technology and investment in water treatment. Besides, we should ensure optimization at the planning level.

There are some solutions to overcome water scarcity problem .1 - ]Water-free urinal. Urinal waste around 6 liters of water per flush that add up to 25 thousand liters per year. If a male member of the house stops using the flush then they can save lots of water.2 - ] Close the running tap. During dishwashing and hand washing people often let the tap running. These running taps waste thousands of liters of water per year. Besides, closing the tap will reduce this problem. 3 - ] Replace dripping taps. In many developing countries , it is commonly seen that most of the houses have one or two taps that drop water even when they are close. This running tap wastes up to 30,000 liters of water that nobody bothers to change. So, we should replace these taps immediately.

To conclude, water scarcity has become a more dangerous problem day by day. Also, due to our leniency that we haven’t taken the problem water scarcity seriously. But, now the authorities and people are working to resolve this problem so that our future generations do not have to buy this necessity.

Uses of Mobile Phones

Mobile phones are one of the most commonly used gadgets in today’s world. Everyone from a child to an adult uses mobile phones these days. They are indeed very useful and help us in so many ways. Mobile phones indeed make our lives easy and convenient but at what cost? They are a blessing only till we use it correctly. As when we use them for more than a fixed time, they become harmful for us.

We use mobile phones for almost everything now. Gone are the days when we used them for only calling. Now, our lives revolve around it. They come in use for communicating through voice, messages, and mails. We can also surf the internet using a phone. Most importantly, we also click photos and record videos through our mobile’s camera. Mobile phones are very advantageous. They help us in making our lives easy and convenient. They help us communicate with our loved ones and carry out our work efficiently. Furthermore, they also do the work of the computer, calculator, and cameras.

The phones of this age are known as smartphones. They are no less than a computer and sometimes even more. You can video call people using this phone, and also manage your official documents. You get the chance to use social media and play music through it. Moreover, we see how mobile phones have replaced computers and laptops. We carry out all the tasks through mobile phones which we initially did use our computers. We can even make Power Point presentations on our phones and use it as a calculator to ease our work.

While mobile phones are very beneficial, they also come to a lot of disadvantages. Firstly, they create a distance between people. As people spend time on their phones, they don’t talk to each other much. People will sit in the same room and be busy on their phones instead of talking to each other.

Subsequently, phones waste a lot of time. People get distracted by them easily and spend hours on their phones. They are becoming dumber while using smartphones. They do not do their work and focus on using phones.

Most importantly, mobile phones are a cause of many ailments. When we use phones for a long time, our eyesight gets weaker. They cause strain on our brains. We also suffer from headaches, watery eyes, sleeplessness and more.

Moreover, mobile phones have created a lack of privacy in people’s lives. As all your information is stored on your phone and social media, anyone can access it easily. We become vulnerable to hackers. Also, mobile phones consume a lot of money. They are anyway expensive and to top it, we buy expensive gadgets to enhance our user experience. People are nowadays not using but abusing mobile phones. They are using them endlessly which is ruining their lives. They are the cause of many ailments. They distract us and keep us away from important work. Moreover, they also compromise with our privacy making us vulnerable to hackers.

In short, we see how it is both a bane and a boon. It depends on us how we can use it to our advantage. We must limit our usage of mobile phones and not let it control us. As mobile phones are taking over our lives, we must know when to draw the line. After all, we are the owners and not the

Composition & Essay Writing [ 98 ] Poverty , Actions Speak Louder Than Words

98 - ] Composition & Essay Writing

Poverty

“Poverty is the worst form of violence”. – Mahatma Gandhi.

We can define poverty as the condition where the basic needs of a family, like food, shelter, clothing, and education are not fulfilled. It can lead to other problems like poor literacy, unemployment, malnutrition, etc. A poor person is not able to get education due to lack of money and therefore remains unemployed. An unemployed person is not able to buy enough & nutritious food for his family and their health decline. A weak person lacks the energy required for the job. A jobless person remains poor only. Thus we can say that poverty is the root cause of other problems.

For measuring poverty United nations have devised two measures of poverty – Absolute and relative poverty.  Absolute poverty is used to measure poverty in developing countries like India. Relative poverty is used to measure poverty in developed countries like the USA. In absolute poverty, a line based on the minimum level of income has been created and is called a poverty line.  If per day income of a family is below this level , then it is poor or below the poverty line. If per day income of a family is above this level , then it is non-poor or above the poverty line. In India, the new poverty line is  Rs 32 in rural areas and Rs 47 in urban areas.

According to the Noble prize winner South African leader, Nelson Mandela – “Poverty is not natural, it is man-made”. The above statement is true as the causes of poverty are generally man-made. There are various causes of poverty but the most important is population. Rising population is putting the burden on the resources and budget of countries. Governments are finding difficult to provide food, shelter and employment to the rising population.

The other causes of poverty are- lack of education, war, natural disaster, lack of employment, lack of infrastructure, political instability, etc. For instance- lack of employment opportunities makes a person jobless and he is not able to earn enough to fulfill the basic necessities of his family and becomes poor. Lack of education compels a person for less paying jobs and it makes him poorer. Lack of infrastructure means there are no industries, banks, etc. in a country resulting in lack of employment opportunities. Natural disasters like flood, earthquake also contribute to poverty.

In some countries, especially African countries like Somalia, a long period of civil war has made poverty widespread. This is because all the resources and money are being spent in war instead of public welfare. Countries like India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, etc. are prone to natural disasters like cyclone, etc. These disasters occur every year causing poverty to rise.

Poverty affects the life of a poor family. A poor person is not able to take proper food and nutrition and his capacity to work reduces. Reduced capacity to work further reduces his income, making him poorer. Children from poor family never get proper schooling and proper nutrition. They have to work to support their family and this destroys their childhood. Some of them may also involve in crimes like theft, murder, robbery, etc. A poor person remains uneducated and is forced to live under unhygienic conditions in slums. There are no proper sanitation and drinking water facility in slums and he falls ill often and  his health deteriorates. A poor person generally dies an early death. So, all social evils are related to poverty.

Some governments have also took several measures to eradicate poverty from their countries . Some of them are – creating employment opportunities, controlling population, etc. For example in India, about 60% of the population is still dependent on agriculture for its livelihood. Government has taken certain measures to promote agriculture in India. The government constructed certain dams and canals to provide easy availability of water for irrigation. Government has also taken steps for the cheap availability of seeds and farming equipment to promote agriculture. Government is also promoting farming of cash crops like cotton, instead of food crops. In cities, the government is promoting industrialization to create more jobs. Government has also opened  ‘Ration shops’. Other measures include providing free & compulsory education for children up to 14 years of age, scholarship to deserving students from a poor background, providing subsidized houses to poor people, etc.

Poverty is a social evil, we can also contribute to control it. For example- we can simply donate old clothes to poor people, we can also sponsor the education of a poor child or we can utilize our free time by teaching poor students. Remember before wasting food, somebody is still sleeping hungry.

Action Speaks Louder Than Words

Several wise proverbs in the world are quite old in origin. Similarly, the proverb “action speaks louder than words” is an age-old proverb. Like much older proverbs, this proverb is also valuable, wise, and mature in its teaching. Furthermore, the phrase implies that what one does has a stronger impact on people than what one says. Most noteworthy, the phrase means that people would probably believe what you do than what you

First of all, actions carry much more weight than words when building trust. Furthermore, trust is very important in every type of relationship. Without trust, no relationship can survive. Moreover, it’s easy to try to build trust by speaking some words. However, building trust through actions is not so easy. Merely speaking words will never create a long-lasting healthy relationship. What really matters in building solid relationships are the actions.

Actions are a huge requirement when committing to goals. Many people make great claims when it comes to goals. However, those claims or words will be without any value if not backed by action. Similarly, people make grand New Year resolutions for their careers. But these resolutions will certainly be nonsense talk if the person makes no effort to pursue his goals.

Actions are essential when it comes to parenting. Kids quickly learn that words are a bunch of false promises if no action takes place. Furthermore, many parents warn their kids of the punishments in case of certain wrongdoings. But some of those parents refuse to punish kids after they do wrongdoing. Due to this, kids don’t value the warnings and threats of their parents. Similarly, some parents make promises of a gift but later on, let go of the idea. In this case, too, kids will not take words of parents seriously.

Actions are certainly of paramount importance when it comes to leadership. The orders and instructions from a leader will not matter much if the leader is actionless . Furthermore, in an organization employees often see a lazy boss doing nothing. This creates tremendous demotivation among them. Hence, the leader must take suitable action to show everyone that he means what he says.

As for  real-life Examples of “Action Speaks Louder than Words” , Mahatma Gandhi is probably the most noteworthy example here. This man did a huge contribution to Indian independence through his actions. Furthermore, his actions like non-violence, non-cooperation, civil disobedience, supporting farmers, supporting oppressed people made a huge impact. He was not one of those who only made grand speeches. Rather, he was a man who stood by what he said. The soldiers form another suitable example. Most noteworthy, these soldiers risk their lives every day for the nation’s security. Unlike many politicians who only make speeches, these soldiers actually do something meaningful . Moreover, these soldiers work selflessly without any desire for fame. Certainly, many people will never know their names.

In conclusion, the proverb “action speaks louder than words” is a valuable life lesson. Furthermore, when an individual uses words, it is much easier to lie. However, an action strongly correlates with what one wants and believes. Actions certainly speak the truth.

Agriculture

Agriculture provides most of the world's food and fabrics. Cotton, wool, and leather are all agricultural products. Agriculture also provides wood for construction and paper products. These products, as well as the agricultural methods used, may vary from one part of the world to another. Agriculture is one of the major sectors of the economy. It is present in the world for thousands of years. Over the years it has developed and the use of new technologies and equipment replaced almost all the traditional methods of farming. Besides, there are still some small farmers that use the old traditional methods of agriculture because they lack the resources to use modern methods. Furthermore, this is the only sector that contributed to the growth of not only itself but also of the other sector of the country.

For decades, agriculture has been associated with the production of essential food crops. At present, agriculture above and beyond farming includes forestry, dairy, fruit cultivation, poultry, beekeeping, mushroom, arbitrary, etc. Today, processing, marketing, and distribution of crops and livestock products, etc. Are all acknowledged as part of current agriculture? Thus, agriculture could be referred to as the production, processing, promotion, and distribution of agricultural products. Agriculture plays a critical role in the entire life of a given economy. Agriculture is the backbone of the economic system of a given country. In addition to providing food and raw material, agriculture also provides employment opportunities to a very large percentage of the population.  Every country largely depends on the agriculture sector. Besides, agriculture is not just a mean of livelihood but a way of living life in the world. Moreover, the governments are continuously making efforts to develop this sector as the whole nation depends on it for food.

For thousands of years, people are practicing agriculture but still, it remained underdeveloped for a long time. Moreover, after their independence, the developing countries as population are growing rapidly  use to import food grains from other countries to fulfill their demand. But, after the green revolution, many of them have become self-sufficient and started exporting their surplus to other countries. Besides, many developing countries like India used to depend completely on monsoon for the cultivation of food grains but now they have constructed dams, canals, tube-wells, and pump-sets. Also, they now have a better variety of fertilizers, pesticides, and seeds, which help them to grow more food in comparison to what they produce during old times. With the advancement of technology, advanced equipment, better irrigation facility and the specialized knowledge agriculture has started improving . Furthermore, the agriculture sector has grown stronger in many countries and some have become to be of the largest exporter of many food grains.

It is not wrong to say that the food we eat is the gift of agriculture activities and farmers who work their sweat to provide us our food. In addition, the agricultural sector is one of the major contributors to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and national income of many countries . Also, it requires a large labor force and employees a large percentage  of the total employed people. The agriculture sector not only employees directly but also indirectly. Moreover, agriculture forms  a great percentage of exports.

Although agriculture is very beneficial for the economy and the people there are some negative impacts too. These impacts are harmful to both environments as the people involved in this sector. Deforestation is the first negative impact of agriculture as many forests have been cut downed to turn them into agricultural land. Also, the use of river water for irrigation causes many small rivers and ponds to dry off which disturb the natural habitat. Moreover, most of the chemical fertilizers and pesticides contaminate the land as well as water bodies nearby. Ultimately it leads to topsoil depletion and contamination of groundwater.

In conclusion, agriculture has given so much to society. But it has its own pros and cons that we can’t overlook. Furthermore, every government is doing its every bit to help in the growth and development of agriculture; still, it needs to do something for the negative impacts of agriculture-to save the environment and the people involved in it.
